Avonwood Press

Most methods of printmaking require the use of a printing press.  Etching requires even more equipment.  There is needed acid baths, water soaking baths, etching tools, inking rollers, chemicals and solvents (with all their complications), a ventilating system, a warming plate, drying equipment, and much, much more.  My studio and workshop is organized to create and print etchings and is called Avonwood Press.  The prints produced and published here are hand pulled originals.  They are not reproductions of paintings nor is any photographic process involved.  My editions are small, generally not more than 25.  I also work in a manner producing unique, one of a kind works, such as monotypes, monoprints, and variable editions.

Occasionally, other artists are invited to use the facility to work on a print, or have me assist them in their work. I have also editioned some publications for other artists at Avonwood Press.  Linocuts, woodcuts, and siligraphy (waterless lithography) may also be produced.  All work printed at Avonwood is embossed with a "chop" mark, which is a unique design,  and is considered the signature for Avonwood Press.   John D.
